I received an email from Mom letting us know she arrived safely in London. It was a short message but it was nice to know they are enjoying their trip. Their tour guide gives little “diary” updates explaining each day of the trip and he also posts a few photos here.  I posted the pictures directly in the gallery below.

My nephew Michael Brandon had his first birthday party last month.  We took many pictures and some pretty endearing video footage, all of which I will uploaded soon.  But until then I will just post these pictures that Travis sent me of the little guy hanging out around the house and checking out the aquarium.

From time-to-time my Grandmother, Mellie, has AARP meetings here in Austin, and tonight she was in town for such an occasion. She was staying at the Radisson right on Lady Bird Lake so we took the quick drive over to meet her. In the Hotel there is a T.G.I. Friday’s with a patio that overlooks the lake and she requested that Kristi and I accompany her to dinner there. I have always been told that this Friday’s has one of the prettiest views of the lake but because the restaurant is in a hotel we have usually found somewhere else a little more convenient to eat. But, it really does have an excellent view of the water. We were also told that the bats that live under the Congress Avenue bridge would also be in full view this evening. After dinner we waited for over an hour only to be disappointed at how dark it got before the bats finally emerged. Even though we didn’t get to see the “world’s largest urban bat colony”, it was still fun eating dinner with Mellie, we always love any chance we can get to see her.
